The "Starcourt Mall" in the newest season of Stranger Things is actually a real mall in Georgia.

Production closed off part of the mall and redid it for filming. Real customers were shopping in areas that weren't roped off while they filmed specific scenes.

Area 51 is strictly off-limits to visitors, with camouflaged-armed-guards patrolling the fences around the parameter.

The airspace above is also restricted, which the U.S. airforce uses for testing top secret and experimental military aircraft, including high tech spy planes.

In February 1948, a guy wore 30-pound shoes, three-toed shoes and stomped around a Florida beach at night.

The footprints made people believe that a 15-foot-tall penguin was walking around. He kept the prank up for 10 years.

In 1976, when Olympic gymnast Nadia Comaneci earned the first perfect score in the Olympics, the scoreboard displayed "1.00" instead of "10."

The scoreboard's manufacturer didn't program the device to display a "10" since they thought it was impossible to attain.

Alcatraz was the only federal prison at the time that provided hot-water showers for its inmates.

The prison staff felt the inmates would find the waters of San Francisco Bay too cold and almost impossible to withstand during an escape if they got used to hot water.

A red flag, when used by pirates, meant "no quarter given," meaning that no mercy would be shown, and no life would be spared.

A black flag usually meant that those who surrendered without fighting would be allowed to live.

David Letterman created a scholarship for the average "C student" because he describes himself as one; recognizing that it's not merely about marks, and some students are extraordinary in other ways.

Colonel Sanders was very critical of KFC's food.

When asked about the gravy he said: "There's no nutrition in it and they ought not to be allowed to sell it." He also said the "crispy recipe is nothing in the world but a damn fried doughball stuck on some chicken."
